A Gun Range Org and Cert

Reading the article about the gun range in a trailer, I got to thinking if there was some National organization for the certification of gun ranges.

I'm not asking for more regulation, but perhaps a way to stop new regulation.

I would propose the National Association of Shooting Ranges. It could be, perhaps, affiliated with the NRA. Dues paying, etc.

The NASR would then have a certification standard for gun ranges, related to safety of the range and practices. A gun range could apply for certification, be "audited" and if passed, a certificate and plaque would be issued.

So, if you drive up to a gun range in a new place and see the plaque, you have some assurance that the place is run and "built" safely.

Don't jump all over me, it's just an idea. And as such, someone has probably already thought of it.

You got it in one: http://www.rangeinfo.org/PDF/NASR_rating_system.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Really, though, running a range is not rocket science. If the parking lot is a mud hole and the place looks like it was abandoned after a natural disaster, you probably don't want to spend your money there.

If you think it's a good idea, remember that down economies are often advantageous times for startups.
