Pretty sure I know the answer but thought I would ask anyway. Especially since it is that time of the year. I am sure more than one of us would be attending one.
High School graduations fall under school sponsored event so that alone would be enough to not allow carry? Please correct me if i am wrong.

You are NOT wrong. No carry at a graduation ceremony.

Thanks Keith for the clarification.

My sister's graduation is held at the civic center in a neighboring community; however, it is a school-sponsored event.
My assumption is that I cannot legally carry. Is that correct?

Don't even carry your pocket knife-- Went to friend's kids' graduation last year-- metal detector. I had to either dispose of my pocket knife (not a chance) or hoof it back to the car.

Correction - no carry at a PUBLIC SCHOOL graduation ceremony.
Private schools (which include homeschools - where my daughter graduated last weekend) which have graduation ceremonies are perfectly acceptable for concealed carry.

The law doesn't discriminate between public and private schools. If you have permission you can carry on the premises and school functions. If you don't have permission you can go to jail for packing. With homeschooling the permission is obvious.

We went to my youngest sister's high school graduation today. On the way out, as we were creeping along toward the exits with the crowd, my big-mouth brother mentions something about how it's great that I had a gun with me.

(Of course, I didn't have it.)
Since he lacks the filter that goes between one's brain and mouth, I'm at least thankful that the crowd was composed of a population rumored to have a high gun-ownership rate.
