im looking for opinions
im right handed,most of the time i wear shorts and a tee-shirt.
i like the idea of carrying IWB at 4:00 , it conceals well and sitting is not a problem. however my pants/shorts dont leave much room for that. i was wondering if anyone who uses an OWB holster has an issue with printing ?
im still experimenting while waiting for my license, so i have found a temporary solution that is well concealed,but does'nt seem too secure.....photo taken in mirror image is reversed


its just a cheap "uncle mikes" holster, but it does stay put when i draw.(crossdraw)
do i need to forget about my vanity and break down and buy a larger size pant/shorts to accommodate for an IWB ?

P.S. sometimes i wear a tee-shirt with an un-buttoned shirt over top, for those times im sure an OWB holster should work just fine.
your thoughts and opinions are appreciated

My CHL instructor suggesting buying pants 2 inches larger than you normally wear for IWB carry. I have been losing weight over the past few months, so I don't think I'll have to buy anything new, I think my old pants will be large enough now. I was looking forward to new clothes, but if they allow me to carry IWB, that's even better than new clothes in a smaller size.

If I feel the need to wear a t-shirt and shorts than I resort to my Kangaroo pouch set-up. It is a simple strap that goes around your chest and uses velcro (so it is adjustable). Little pouch on the strap lets you adjust the weapon to sit under your armpit.

Pro: Easily adjustable. Seems flimsy but I have never had any issues with it.
Con: You sweat on your weapon.

i have thought about that too, a very good incentive to drop a few pounds (as seen in photo)

Anybody with a watch like that should be able to afford a quality holster.

I have a Tucker Answer IWB. I wear at 3-4 o'clock (depends on how the belt loops line up) And Can fit a fullsize 1911 in there, in my existing waistband size, and it is fully concealed (until I do a 90 degree forward bend, but thats a different story)

This is in my normal t-shirt size, and normal waistband size.

I have pictures ill post later when I get home

i have a pair of shorts one size too big (never buy pants right after leaving a chinese buffet)
im going to dig them out and see how they work as my current size seems to be maxed out

You are right handed - but you will have to twist your hand around to get the weapon out? An extreme a problem arises is not the time to be thinking about which way to turn your wrist or be fumbling around - just my opinion. Also, you will find that the holster (the one you have and the way you are pocket carrying) will probably (IMHO again) ride up and out when setting, especially in a vehicle - it could cause a small distraction when the weapon get dislodged and clatters to the parking lot or in a restaurant.

Really, buy a decent holster - for that matter, buy several - the economy needs it!!

I wear shorts and tee shirts all the time using a Hume JIT OWB holster usually with a Hipower but sometimes with a Glock 26. I don't have any problems printing that I am aware of.

i am right handed, the weapon is in my left pocket, (cross draw ),photo taken in mirror image is reversed so there is no twisting of the wrist what so ever. its actually a very natural/comfortable draw.

i do agree to buy a decent holster and probably more than one style. the "uncle mikes" is more or less just something to keep it in while it lays around at home.

I'm a shorts & T-shirts sort of guy also. I carry a Springfield Armory XD-45 Compact in a CompTac Shirt Tucker. I'm "fluffy" enough that the added size of the combo doesn't really require me to go up a full 2 inches, but a little extra room in the waist makes it much more comfortable. I have tried the CompTac Belt Holster as well, and it works pretty well, so long as I don't need to get at anything in my hip pocket on that side. I've worn it out a few times and even my wife & eldest son (who check me for printing regularly) didn't know I was carrying. The OWB solution FEELS like it's printing to me, but apparently no one else notices.
