fanny pack carry, pretty convenient

Well, I decided to fanny pack carry for the last week while visiting Houston (mainly because the shorts I'm planning to wear can't completely conceal my pocket holster). I never liked carrying a fanny pack, even before my CHL, but figured I'd give this new (smaller) bag a try.
Interestingly, it was more convenient and comfy than I remembered. I think the smallness of the bag made the difference. I may do this more often. Here's a pic of what I used (the bag on the left):

I did walk past a few cops and don't think they noticed my pack; in fact, I don't think anybody noticed the quick-open tab sticking out of it. I did get a few smile and nods, but I think they are just friendly Houston people.
This pack replaced my wallet as well since I put my money and IDs into it. I'll definitely be carrying this way more often.[/url]

My dad is always recommending I go with a fanny pack, but I'm just not the fanny pack kind of girl.
Your's looks nice though. Is it leather?

Where did you get that pack? It looks about right for me.
I was at the beach for the AIA sand castle competition and it sure got hot wearing an open shirt over the tee shirt and the IWB.

Summer time anywhere there are enough of those around that the only person that can hear it scream gun is the selfconcious wearer. I am a country boy & my vest does not scream to anyone either. Dress the part you play in life & no one notices.

Yes, the pack is made of leather with (what I think) is a good design:
1. Strong threads and no threads are exposed and placed on locations that can get rubbed during normal use.
2. Internal holster and quick-access tabs. Padded, stiff backside that keeps the bag in its rectangular shape and soft onthe wear side.
3. Removable nylon belt, so you can use your regular belt if wanted.
4. Front compartment w/ a spare mag pouch. I use this for my money and IDs since I don't carry a spare mag. If you carry one, then you can't use it this way because you'll expose the mag when opening it.
I got it at a gun show for $25-$30?. About the price I paid for another nylon bag that's much larger, but that bag was uncomfortable. I think the smaller bag forces me to carry less stuff ... making it light and convenient to have it at the 2 o'clock location. I can't find any maker's tag, just a made in USA label in it.
On the right of the pic in my 1st post, you can see my pocket holster, which is just a bit smaller than this bag. That gives you an idea on the size of the bag: 6.5" x 5.5" x 2".

What model/brand handgun is in the photo with the fanny pack ?
Just wondering how it relates to the size of my Kimber Ultra Carry II ?

Both pistols in the pic are Kahr PM9s.
As for size, they are smaller than your Kimber.

I have been using a fanny pack since I have been having to get around on a scooter. I have to carry insulin with me. So I place the insulin in the front of the Bag and 1911 in the back with spare mag. I do not mind it at all.

These Photos were taken of ElGato wearing his weapon! I knew what he was getting out of the truck and I still exptected him to pull out a notepad! This holster is made of a soft and comfortable looking leather and from what he told me the price was very very reasonable. I will let him chime in and give you the specifics. Take care.

I have been known to carry a full size 1911 in my pack.
I like the one pictured, but with the jeans and belt it's a dead give away, it just doesn't fit.

Mine Is a converted bible case. I think it was 6 bucks at Walmart. My hand goes right in the slot gripping the gun as if the case isn't there. Don't have to "draw" to fire it either.
