I am new to the 1911 world. Just bought my first one a couple weeks ago (it was actaully a Father's day gift from my wife and kids). It is a beautiful SS Springfield 1911 MILSPEC. I am looking to upgrade a few parts in it and need some advice. I am looking for a new barrel bushing, a match grade barrel and new recoil spring guide rod. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Your wife may never forgive me, but here's the best way to go about what you're interested in:

Go to the Catalog Order Page on the Brownell's web site and get their 1911 catalog (click the button for it on the right side of the page.) If you have other guns, you might also want the general catalog, the AR-15 catalog, etc.

I guarantee they'll have more high quality toys than you'll have money to spend on them. That will hold true no matter how much money you've got.

Thanks for the info on the 1911 catalog. Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Just a suggestion: get about 500-1000 rounds through it first and then decide what if anything you want to change. My favorite 1911 had a milspec barrel in it and was scary accurate. I could hit a 6" steel target at 200 yards with it until I wore it out! Now I have a Kimber barrel in it.

I agree, put a few rounds downrange with it as it currently is.

Then you can go and figure out what you would like to change.
