As I recall, guns are banned in Chicago, so someone managed to procure them. If you don't happen to have a gun, "branch cutter" seems to work as well.

This is about normal for a summer weekend in Chicago. There has been a gang war since the weather warmed up.

It's worth noting that Chicago has nearly every "gun control" measure that the Bradys want: a handgun ban, an "assault weapons" ban, waiting periods, registration, no private sales, a ban on having a loaded weapon almost everywhere, and one of the highest crimes rates in the nation.

Also note that most of these shootings are committed by minors, who could not legally acquire a handgun anywhere.

Has anyone with a backbone asked S. Brady and/or her cronies why this is happening in a place where all of her bans are in place? Second question would be "and you want the entire USA to be exactly like this with regards to guns"?

Why can't we get someone to ask the real questions and get the answers that WE want to hear for a change? :mad5

Oh, I know exactly how they'd respond.

They'd claim that the guns were coming from outside Chicago, and only banning them nationwide will completely solve the problem

Everybody knows where they come from. They're stolen in places where people are more likely to have firearms in their homes, bought by straw buyers, and in about 2% of cases bought from private sellers. Every one of these methods is illegal, and most of the people are in illegal possession of the firearms, because they are felons, underage, or illegal immigrants.

The Bradys say they think that if every state had the same laws, the supply would dry up. That is why I keep posting stories about violent crimes committed in island nations where most firearms are completely banned.

BTW, since illegal possession of a firearm is a felony in most cases, violent criminals have more of an incentive to try to evade arrest and shoot at the cops.

I travel to Chicago quite frequently (about once a month,at least lately). First thing I did while reading the article was enter the address of each incident into Google Maps...fortunately my travels don't take me near those locations, that's not to say that a bad element won't come to where I tend to visit/travel though (usually in the 290/90 area, West of O'Hare). Makes me rethink my defensive strategies. Was talking to a client last week up there, he showed me his Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card...want to own/buy a gun/ammo? Then you have to have the FOID card. CRAZY, absolutely CRAZY!

Reading these horror stories truly helps me to appreciate living in this state. The freedom we have compared to some other states is something I/we sometimes overlook. God bless Texas! :txflag:

They're all slums (or at least they were when I lived there), except 6100 W. Diversey Ave. That was a confrontation between individuals who knew each other.

It's unusual for visitors to get into violent trouble in Chicago unless they get seriously lost or go somewhere looking for illegal activity such as drugs.

I'm sure vehicle theft is a problem, especially for people with decent cars with out-of-state plates or identifiable rental cars.

About as many people are killed every week in Chicago as were killed in the St. Valentine's Day massacre (7).

However, all the men killed in the the St. Valentine's Day massacre were gangsters and knew what they were getting into. Many of those killed in Chicago now are children and innocent victims killed by wild shots.
