This is a fantastic read if you are interested in how Mexican drug gangs or any of the world's paramilitary groups obtain arms and also to learn the reason why the Mexican Government blames the US for illegal arms trafficking much to the delight of anti-gun politicians. This is from Stratfor Security Weekly, a free service.

Very interesting article TacShot! Thank you for posting.
It kind of verified what most of us have thought all along.

Too much fact, too little emotion, for anyone other than like-minded people to read the article.
You begin making sense like this and people's eyes begin to glaze over. Much easier for the masses to listen when in 10 seconds someone says "Guns from America are fueling the violence in Mexico! We have to make guns illegal to save these poor Mexicans!"
But you begin to present actual sensible fact-based information and most people are overwhelmed.

The tidbit that I found most interesting was that the guns that are from the USA going into Mexico are typically payment or partial payment for drug shipments FROM Mexico (of course, we "knew" this subjectively, but this is a more objective measure being used here).
That the actual percentage of BATFE-traceable firearms that originated in the USA is 12% doesn't seem to bother anyone in the media or in large parts of the .gov is somewhat disturbing (and lends support to our belief that it is merely a means to an end - whether Mexican .gov trying to shame the US .gov, or gun banners trying to end legal ownership/sale of firearms in the USA).
