Having put off an attempt to acquire an EBR last fall after the election, it looks like prices are starting to come down to rational levels. However, one thing harder to gauge is ammo availability. What's the real world like out there for 5.56/.223? I can't imagine much worse than buying a new weapon and not being able to shoot it for lack of reasonably priced ammunition. Any suggested ammo sources? This is my first venture into this area, so any info is welcome.

I have gotten it easily at local shows and on Gunbroker.

Academy has moved their stock back out to the isle, if that gives you any indication. I haven't had anypeoblem getting 223 ammo recently. Best I've found locally is .30 a round for the steel cased stuff, which my rifle eats just fine.

It's easily available, however, still not back down to pre-hoopla prices...

I just bought a case from Ammunition to Go a couple weeks ago. With tax & shipping it comes out to .38 per round for the Centurion. If you want to drive up to Brenham you can save the $12 for shipping.

I bought a case of the plinking stuff before the rush and it was .35 per round so their price has stayed the same for what I'm interested in purchasing.

They've had stock now for quite some time.

For the "evil" ammo, I bought 1k rounds of Fiocci honaday tip at 41 cents per round at academy. You have to buy in 500 rounds plus to get that price.

When shooting this stuff, whatever you hit (flesh) explodes.

It is what is loaded in my home defense AR.
