A friend is travelling to Colorado and wants to take a pistol as she is driving alone. Anything she needs to be aware of outside Texas? Where to look for this kind of info?

It would be wise to check out the laws of each state she will be passing through at http://www.handgunlaw.us/.

It would appear she should be ok to keep it in the vehicle as long as she travels through New Mexico to get to Colorado. Car carry without CHL is forbidden in Oklahoma.

New Mexico and Colorado are open-carry states. Your friend needs to consult the details at the site that Carrots referred to for how they define open carry in a vehicle.

Each state's NRA affiliate should have a web site with useful information, and maybe they have forums similar to this forum.

Women who follow traffic laws and don't drive a vehicle with "arrest me" written all over it rarely have trouble with the police.

As usual, I am not a lawyer and am not qualified to give legal advice.
