A man in South Bend, Indiana, was relieving himself in an alley at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday when he shot himself in the leg. He drove himself to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Normally this kind of story is good for a chuckle, but the guy had a concealed weapon permit. Should have known better. :rules:

I know of a similar incident here in Houston. Shooter was about to mount the throne of solitude and as he tells it, the firearm (a Glock 21) fell to the floor, discharging on impact. This sent a round (FMJ) through his leg, destroying said throne and/or an expensive piece of art work depending on which version of the story you've heard. Wound was non-arterial and he refused a ride to the hospital.

Knowing the gun in question, it is plausible that this Glock discharged when dropped. The trigger work this shooter had done on the gun amounts to staging the trigger bar in an effort to produce a 1911-like trigger. This of course is not recommended and strongly discouraged but, I think it's a major contributing factor to the incident.
