I'd bet that if I'm ever in an actual shootout that I'll be shooting fast enough. The problem will be slowing down. But that'll be taken care of when I have to reload.

We already know that it's valid under the right circumstances (my first time, I had to shoot almost from the hip with my .357 snubbie, it was that close) - but a specific technique does not cover all circumstances.

Yes... like being holed up in a bedroom, or near your front door, with someone attempting to kick the door down. I'm pretty sure you can have sights up and ready at that point.

When I was working in west Texas in 1955 & 1956 we called this instinctive shooting. We used this method to shoot jack rabbits on the run. From 50 to 150 yars. We would watch the dust kick up to tell us where we hit then adjust. You would be surprised how easy they were to hit. This was my introduction to Ruger's little automatic 22 pistols. We did this on old oil field roads on our leases. There were no houses and we knew the location of all our equipment. It was great fun. Sometimes we did this at night, sometimes in the day. We would take our girl friends and let them shoot too. The ladies learned very fast. I still have a Ruger bull barrel.
