Small step in the right direction...

So, my children attend a small private school. It is a very family-centric place where we stay in close contact with all members of the administrative, teaching, and coaching staff.
Since it is very family-oriented, many of the parents work or volunteer at the school, across the spectrum of staff.
Case in point, I happen to help out from time to time watching over the school in the evening. While "manning the fort", so to speak, I tend to walk the grounds and move frequently in and out of the buildings.
After doing this a few times, it occurred to me recently to ask whether or not I could be granted written permission to carry during these times. Aside from the general human-encounter concerns, the school is located near a heavily wooded area, so there have been close-up varmint (larger and smaller) sightings and encounters reported.
Long story short, the initial discussions and my formal request were met with absolutely no resistance. From my perspective, I was impressed by the response and, needless to say, was granted carry permission.
It's a small thing, but I appreciate not having to unholster, unload, and store my weapon while in and out of the school buildings at night.

Wow! That's great. I've thought about asking where my daughter goes, but haven't done it.
