How many active CHLs?

Bad Google-foo...I haven't been able to turn up any recent info.
Anyone know how many active CHLs there are in Texas. It used to be 258,162 (1.04%) (2006 data IIRC) but I was curious how the large increase in applications in the last year or so has influenced the per capita number.
Mainly I'm just wondering when I should be doing something more productive like mowing the yard.

I just found this link on Twitter from Lubbock Online. According to this story, there should be about 400,000 by years end. For some extra entertainment, read the comments following the article.

The very article that got me wondering. I was hoping for a "current". The article state 327,560 as of March. Hoping for something a little more current. Not that it matters much.
Brings per capita up to 1.3% and .3% increase since the 2006 data.

I ask that question about every 2 or 3 weeks.
The most current figures that DPS puts out are on their website, and as of 12/31/08 there were 316,085 CHL licensees:

Their fiscal year ends 8/31, and they publish #'s for that time as well. I'm quite anxious to see what they turn out to be.
