Police: Man who killed Pasadena officer was just released from jail

By Kevin Peters / 11 News

PASADENA, Texas—A Pasadena police officer was fatally shot in the line of duty at a trailer park Friday morning.

Pasadena police said Officer Jesse Hamilton was responding to a disturbance call near the intersection of Shaver and Queens around 6:30 a.m. when the shooting occurred.

Investigators said Hamilton was talking to the suspect’s mother on the front porch of the trailer when the suspect’s wife, who was inside the home, shouted, “He’s got a gun!”

Within seconds, the suspect came out and shot Hamilton in the head, according to investigators.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Sergio Robles Jr., was also shot in the head.

Police said it’s unclear if Hamilton or his backup pulled the trigger.

They did say that Robles he was released from jail on Thursday.

The mortally wounded officer was airlifted to Memorial Hermann, where he died just after 7 a.m.

Police said Hamilton was 29 years old and had a wife and three young kids.
He’d been an officer with the Pasadena Police Department for four years, and before that he was a dispatcher.

Police said the suspect was airlifted to Memorial Hermann, where he was in serious condition at last check.

Investigators don’t believe the suspect and his wife lived in the trailer park.

They said the suspect has mental health issues, and he may have been having trouble with his wife.

Records indicate Robles got out of jail last week after a DWI arrest. He also served 10 days behind bars in 2004 for discharging a firearm in Pasadena.

Both the suspect’s wife and mother were cooperating with police.

The last Pasadena officer killed in the line of duty was Les Early.

He was shot during an early-morning raid at a drug house in November of 1993.

Hamilton is only the fourth Pasadena police officer to lose his life in the line of duty.

This is very sad. I live fairly near to where this happened. I saw helicopters in the air as I was leaving to go to work and knew something was up. As soon as I heard it on the news I was rather shocked. Leo's stand between us and BG's every day. A real shame...
