Lousiana's first annual "2d Amendment Tax Free Weekend" starts tomorrow, Friday, September 4th. Might be an opportunity to pick up some firearms, ammo, gear, etc. Lake Charles' gun show also starts Saturday. I heard on local Beaumont TV that Texans can purchase long guns, but no handguns. Anyone know the law on contigious state purchases?

Handguns will still need to go through an FFL I believe, geography is largely irrelevant.

No state tax, right? I think they still have to pay the 11% fed tax on long guns and ammo.

Senator Jeff Wentworth introduced a similar bill for Texas in the last legislative session--SB 1788--details here:

If you think it's a good idea for Texas, write your State Reps and Senators and let them know.
