How Far Would You Go to Get a CHL?

We have had people drive a significant distance to our classes for various reasons, but this past Saturday I think we had the big winner.

A Colorado resident drove from Colorado Springs to Roanoke, Texas to take our Utah class so that he could legally carry in Washington state.

Now that's dedication!

Wow....that is a long drive. One has to wonder why on earth he didn't just take the class in Colorado?

That's what I call commitment! Either that, or take a course from an excellent CHL instructor. :thumbs2:

(Note: The preceding was not a paid political advertisement)

Wow, you must be a really good instructor. Makes me wonder just how bad my instructor really was. He was an elder man that liked to take a lot of side roads (got off on a lot of tangents). Let's just say that he had a hard time staying on topic. But, he did have some interesting stories.

Edit: I did drive just under 250 miles round trip because my pa-in-law wanted me to take the class with him.

Well, I like to think that we are pretty good, but maybe not THAT good!

I think it has more to do with there not being a whole lot of active Utah instructors out there. But... you would think he was closer to Utah than to north Texas.

Yeah, but crossing the mountains may be harder than coming through Oklahoma (well, maybe.)

Plus, Crossfire and Marty DO have some pretty good donuts in their classes.

You must have quite a reputation!

Seems like it would have been easier for him to just drive from Colorado to Utah, or even to Washington State.

You can complete the non-resident Washington application process in about 30 minutes at most law enforcement offices. I applied last summer while in Seattle. The cost is $55.25. No training is required. They don't even need a passport photo. They take your fingerprints, and mail the license to you after checking your criminal history. My license arrived in 26 days.

Of course, if he had done that, then he would have missed out on all your good instruction...

I would guess if I had to make a choice I would go to Texas also, really what is in Utah. Luckily I only had to drive 6 miles to attend Crossfire class.

In retrospect, I would have done the same thing if I had know about "CROSSFIRE TRAINING" beforehand for my Texas CHL, all my references since my Utah class have been to Crossfire. Keep up the good work!
