To all,

I had a buddy at work ask me a Colt 45 1911 question. He has been looking for some information on it and is not doing well at it. I told him I would put it in the forum. Can anyone tell me where I can get year of production from the SN? He is going to get me some photos and markings off of it. He also has the holster that came with it. It is in about 90% to 95% on the bluing. From what he said, it has very few rounds down the tube. It was his grandfathers handgun. I will post more info when I get it. I do thank you for what info you will give from what I posted.

Thanks,
Calvin

Is there an online resource for more recent Colts? or is it better to just call their customer service line? I'd like to get a mfr date for a Commander model that's "new to me" and probably not more than a few years old.

To add more confusion to the fray, I've had good luck with this site although the Colt page doesn't list much for the AR series.

:cheers2:

I'll give him $100 for it - $300 if it's a Singer ;)
Shame on you! :smilelol5:

I told him not to put it up for sale, but he is into cars. He was in the USMC and has no use for it. He is just thinking about it.

Why don't you post the serial number here....or at least the first few digits? Pics of the actual gun would be nice to see.
Did his Grand Dad have the gun because of military service or did he buy it through civilian channels?
How does he know what the round count is? Lots of questions.
