Some of you folks from Houston may know Cheryl-she and her mother Dallas run Hot Wells shooting range on HW 290 in northwest Houston. I'm sorry to say that she passed away this morning-cancer, apparently. She was named NRA Instructor Recruiter of the year in 2008, and was well-known and liked. She posted on this board as member "cdshoot".

Cheryl was also my CHL instructor. I knew she had cancer, but was under the impression that they had a handle on it. I am on their e-mail list and the last update I received seemed positive. My heart goes out to her family, and all of the Hotwells friends.
May God allow her to rest now after all of the GREAT work she did while she was here. She will be sorely missed.

i am so sorry to hear this news .
Cheryl was also my instructor and i have known her for several years .
like others , i knew she was ill and thought she was doing a little better .

my heart goes out to her children who she loved deeply .
Cheryl touched a lot of peoples lives , including mine .

hers a copy of the e-mail .

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of a great woman. Cheryl lost her fight with cancer this morning, October 3, 2009 at about 8:00 a.m. She passed without pain, surrounded by her family and lots of love. The Celebration of life is tentavely set for Wednesday morning and a viewing will be scheduled for Tuesday evening. More details will be sent as we iron them out. The family's wishes are that all of you that love her share this time of celebration with us. We sincerely hope you will be there to share your own stories and hear some of ours.

CDShoot will be carried on by her son Donovan, with the assistance of me, her daughter, Dallas. The newsletter will be back to its standard Second Ammendment application next month. Classes will carry on as scheduled, mom never cancelled a class and we will continue this policy as we proudly continue her legacy.

Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers through these trying times.

I don't know her and never had the pleasure of meeting her.. It does seem she left a powerful legacy in her children. May God bless them.
