Too many things wrong with this article to list them all. Seems like the reporter started with a few facts and then let his imagination run wild.

Similar to doing a jigsaw puzzle, it was entertaining to see how many buzz words I could find. One of the more amuzing paragraphs...

"If they prevail, we will find ourselves in a country where the Second Amendment law has drifted from something reasonable — a constitutional clause enabling state militias — toward a land of illogic where the Constitution ensures public safety by enshrining citizens' rights to secretly pack guns loaded with hollow-point, or "cop-killer," bullets; where neighbors have a protected right to shoot off pistols in their backyards; and where youngsters visiting a relative's house can expect to find a Winchester resting above the couch, its place protected by the U.S. Constitution."

Wow!

It's not often that you read something that demonstrates not only a near-total lack of knowledge within their chosen topic, but also an almost total fail on the use of buzz words.

Hollow points == "Cop Killer" bullets? Not even close!
Self-Defense == shooting off your pistol in your own backyard? What an amazing leap of illogic!

Just, WOW!

Exactly. No words can properly express how I feel about this except a few foul ones. I sent a response via the SF Weekly website to tell him I think he's a looney tune.

This article makes me furious, but reminds me of the old saying:

"Tell a conservative a lie, and it will anger him. Tell a liberal the truth, and that will anger him."

I read that article 3 times. I went away with feeling pity and sorrow. Those poor souls living there, with laws imposed upon them to keep them defenseless. And the statistics bear that out.

I went to the FBI statistical database, and for Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter here's what the stats bear out. This is per 100,000 population:

San Francisco Bay Area: 8.1
Greater Houston Metro: 7.8
Greater San Antonio:---- 7.1
DFW Metroplex:-----------5.5

It boggles my mind that many people over there do not understand that gun controls only disarms the law abiding citizens and denies them the right to defend themselves. I don't get it. I just don't get it.

There must be no violent crime in San Francisco. Perfect society. Regular utopia. Since its so safe there we should all move there so we can have the good life as well, rather than living like the paranoid wackos we must all be..........I'm sure there are lots of good (rich) therapists there that will be more than happy to put me on a couch and tell me all about myself while their little Handi-vac is removing all the money from my pockets...........

Just so we all understand, there is a LOT of sarcasm oozing through my above comment......... :patriot: :txflag: :fire

Now, now, now, Joe.....you know statistics mean nothing to the Californians. It doesn't fit in with their "feel good" philosophy about how perfect the world should be. They can just vote for all kinds of bread and circuses year round.......Of course, now they are finding out that they can't pay for it.........

I would not take an IOU from that state government. EVER.

I wonder if they put Lithium in the water supply to make all the inhabitants of Kalifornia docile and subservient?

With all the earthquakes, fires, and crime I'm amazed that people don't move out of the state. No thanks. I'll stay in Texas thank you very much. I like to do my own thinking. God Bless Texas. :txflag:

NOT!

Folks, not all Californians feel this way. While they do have a plethora of liberal tree huggers, there are plenty in Texas too. :banghead:

You are correct, and I extend my apologies to those that were offended.
