Reported an arrest, but got the year wrong.

I was arrested back in 1992 for not paying out a fine for MIP, in other words there was a warrant issued and I got pulled over for a traffic violation and taken in. I contacted Lubbock County, where the arrest took place to do a record search for the CHL application. There were no records and they sent me a certified copy stating such which I included in my packet. So, guessing at the year, I reported this on my application as happening in 1991.
There is a local private range here that I am preparing to apply for membership. Part of the application requires a DPS background search using the online search utility. I ran that and found the record of the arrest from DPS. The date is 1992.
I would not think this will be an issue for the CHL process but not sure. Will this be a problem?

Welcome to the forum.
I think you'll be OK. I had an arrest so long ago that I wasn't sure if it was BC or AD. DPS accepted the letter stating that no records could be found.
First-offense minor in possession is a class C misdemeanor, anyway, so it's not a legal obstacle to anything.

Hi rlowe, and welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information right here at your fingertips, and a lot of great people to get to know.
I think you are in great shape, as you included the "disposition" (or certified letter from Lubbock County stating no such records found) in with your original application. Did you self declare on the application itself, where it asks you if you had any "criminal history"?
When I sent in my packet, I also included several "certified dispositions", self declared by explaining all the infractions. I wound up using 2 type written pages in landscape format to explain it all. And you can see by my timeline that everything turned out the was it's supposed to.

MIP is Minor in Possession (of alcohol). I bought a case of beer when I was 19 or 20 and got caught in a sting, along with about everyone else who went to Texas Tech in the late 80s :) The result was a fine that I partially paid. I went home for the summer and when I came back to school, I called the county to find out what I owed so I could settle up. The did not find any record of it, so being the naive kid that I was, I happily left it at that. A couple of years later I was pulled over for a rolling stop on campus, and the next thing I knew I was sitting on handcuffs in a cruiser.
I did disclose it on the form, just got the year wrong. It is interesting that DPS has a record of it, but Lubbock County does not.

I put on my application I was arrested "around" 1979 or 1980 and the case was dismissed. I couldn't remember it was so long ago and so insignificant.
Words exactly like the above. I got my plastic and they never asked anything.
