After reading the other thread, I had to post this.

Last weekend I put together a mens Range day for the guys in my Sunday school class. We started out shooting a round of Sporting clays. 50 targets per shooter. Let me tell ya, ceramic flying disks don't have much to worry about. Top shooter only hit 24, I hit 23.

After the Sporting Clays, we went to the pistol range, I had my CZ-75 and 1911. There was also a Sig P226, a Charter Arms .38 and a couple of other semi auto 9's that I did not fire.

Afte the pistols we made our way to the rifle range. I let everyone shoot my AR and all fell in love with it. We also shot a Lee Enfield, a Rem 700, and an old WWI Bolt action that I could not iedentify. I forgot to ask what it was.

We had a total of 11 shooters for the day and all are asking when the next one is.

What a great way to continue fellowship with your church members! I hope it becomes a regular thing to do after church.

Who knows? They may even get a CHL because of you. :clapping: :tiphat:

Actaully,
One of the guys asked me about getting one. I am setting up a class for my wife, daughter and daughters mother in law to get their Utah permit. My daughter actually lives in Washington, but is here while her husband is deployed. Anyway, this guy is now on the list as well. :hurry:

Where did you go? I don't think there's a range like that around here.

Embalm Oh!

If that is a local (Ft Worth) class and it's public, I'd also be interested.

Rex,
The instructor says he will come to my house, place of business, where ever, to teach the class. $215.00 covers the class and the license fee. No test, no shooting.

I will let you know when we have it set up.

Man, I need to get involved in your church. The only socials we have are at somebody's house for a pot luck dinner and idle chit chat and cards.

Guys,

Have you heard the modern parable about the stranger that walks into a large congregation with an assault rifle and shouts, "Anyone not willing to take a bullet for Jesus better leave." Of course 2/3 of the congregation flees, and the stranger tells the preacher, "Go on, I've weeded out the hypocrites."

That would not happen in our church, in 1.8 seconds, civilian and LEO bullets from every direction in our church would stifle his monologue.

You gotta' plant the seed before you reap such a cool social. Talk about your trips to the range with gun owners and non-gun owners. In a real Bible based Christian church you'll likely find men and women who are keen on shooting, even if they've never done it. Eventually you'll hear comments like, "We should all go to the range someday."

Our trip to Red's happened because plan 'A' didn't work out and the seeds had already been planted by me, and another CHL in our class. We had 4 couples and of the 4 women, there was: My live in CHL, a women who had shot before and rented a Sig 9, one that tried for the first time and loved it, and 1 that tried it for the first time and hated it.

Unfortunately, yes.
