Yesterday, Ft. Hood, today Orlando, FL. What is wrong with people?

Further reason for all of us to carry 24/7 and BE AWARE. An active shooter situation can occur any time, any place.

No kidding! I'm wondering if anything else is going to happen today, and what can tragedy can we expect tomorrow?

Interesting times we live in...

Imagine yourself in this situation...What are you prepared to do??? What can you do??? What should you do???

Apparently there are people still barracaded in the building in question...

Kinda makes you wonder how all those laws and rules regarding firearms in or around the workplace worked out???

I like that USC code that keeps thumbs down on the folks at government facilities (i.e.: Ft. Hood)...That worked out real well (/sarcasm)...

And this building in Orlando...Well, what can I say...

This is just crazy! Two deadly shootings back-to-back in two days. It is sad and my prayers go out to those involved in both incidents. But it is just very frustrating :mad5 that a lot of people can't seem to put 2+2 together and realize that banning guns is NOT going to stop these incidents. How many more body bags is it going too take before those opposed to guns realize that allowing armed law-abiding citizens might just help to minimize or diffuse these situations. :banghead:

What is this world coming to? My co-workers and I have been talking about this scenario and I asked them what they would do? Most of them said they would hide under their desks and hope that they aren't found by the shooter. I don't think I'm willing to "hide" under my desk and let them walk up and shoot me. Even though the company I work for has a no gun policy, I'm going to have to rethink my priorities. :mad5

My company also has a no weapons policy. If anything ever happens I'll likely be looking to get out ASAP. If I'm confronted the only thing I have is my knife and maybe a fire extinguisher if I'm near one.

I can tell you what would happen to me. I would be fired after I shot the bad guy dead as dead can be...but I would still be alive. I lived for many years under the "better to be tried by 12 than carried by six" philosophy. The CHL has only been around for about 12? or 13? years. I have had my CHL for about 1.5 years. I have carried concealed since I was 19 years old and at 48 years old have never come close to being outed. Everyone has to make their own choice about these issues. For me...it is worth the risk. Better alive and unemployed than dead and unemployed.

I have to agree the only way anyone can find out for sure you are in violation of company policy would be for you to save your own or coworkers lives. I am trying to convince my wife she needs to go 24/7 her office is in the Seminary South, whoops La Gran Plaza area of Fort Worth. Not the safest of areas if you are familiar wit the area. I have spent the last 25 years in the Harry Hines area over the years we have had dead hookers dumped in parking lots on the same street on three occasions. Been broke into on eight occasions had to run lights three times to avoid pursuits from DPD. Interupted a guy busting into vehicles, helped a guy robbed in my office parking lot he was a minimum wage janitor they cold cocked him hit a beer bottle & stole his bicycle the only transportation he could afford. So yeah I am bending the rules which say there are no weapons allowed, since pistols are not specificly listed as weapons and I consider it a tool I am in my mind only in violation IF I ahold happen to need it to defend myself when I am Leaving or entering the building. Don't ask don't tell and concealed means concealed. Mine comes out of the IWB and the holster goes to the trunck whie the pistol goes into whatwas originally meant to be a laptop compartment with speed loaders or spare mags into zippered compartment of my briefcase.
