Agents from the
  • U.S. Marshall Service
  • Galveston County Sheriff Department
  • Santa Fe PD
  • La Marque PD and
  • Texas City PD
busted two suspects at separate residences in Hitchcock and La Marque.

They allegedly confiscated 18 ecstasy pills from one and half an ounce of pot from the other.

I'm sure this will be the end of illegal substance abuse in this end of the county.

The five agencies involved must be high-fiving it today.

Seems like an overkill for 18 pills and 1/2 ounce of pot.

I wouldn't classify this as a HUGE bust.

wow...no kidding. All that manpower for what basically amounts to a personal stash.

Waste of $$ is you ask me...

I agree that it sound ridiculous. But we know so little about the story other than the few lines in the Galveston Daily News. And I think we all agree that normally media doesn't have all their ducks in a row. But I have to come to the defense of the LEOs on this one. There's no telling what type of undercover work had gone into this. Maybe they were told a big time drug dealer was supposed to be at one of the residences and they missed him. But while they were there, they found this other piddly stuff. It doesn't mean there wasn't more there before they got there and it doesn't mean there won't be more there again. It could have just been bad timing all the way around. And the Daily News...on a relative slow news day...reported on the only information they had about the incident.

I don't know if that's what happened. I just can't rush to judgement based on a little blurb in a newspaper.

Do I have to give up my forum membership now? :confused5

It's also possible that the two suspects will give up their suppliers in return for a plea bargain -- though that can be dangerous.

I was just struck by the attention paid to a trivial amount of drugs.

I know...I can't figure out why the newspaper would give that sort of thing any space. It really must have been a slow news day.

I don't know, but reporters have to maintain their relationships with sources.

There was a somewhat bigger bust that got less ink: http://galvestondailynews.com/story.las ... b20e9#hree" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, it'll be the end of the badguys drug use for a while. With all that manpower it does seem like the big stuff they expected was GOA. I can only imagine the flack those Officers are getting at their HQs, poor guys.

Now this is more like it: Friendswood police reportedly arrested a man living on Kobayashi Drive in Webster for allegedly possessing four pounds of pot.

I agree Jim; four pounds is a lot of pot unless you're Cheech Marin or Tommy Chong.

Apparently I was too cynical. It looks like they are working their way up the supply chain.

Officers busted three alleged drug dealers in the 3200 block of Lobit Drive in Dickinson Saturday. A fourth suspect threatened police, who shot him as he fled. He was later taken into custody and hospitalized.

Police later found a handgun that may have been in the possession of the man who was shot.

Police arrested a man that they described as a "major drug dealer" in La Marque early Saturday. The man was charged with possession of less than 1 gram of narcotics, but also with manufacturing and delivery, weapons violations, and an outstanding warrant for deadly conduct.

The man lived in the garden of earthly delights near Texas Avenue (FM 1765) and state highway 3 (see http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21192" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Agencies participating in the investigation and raid include
  • La Marque PD
  • League City PD
  • Dickinson PD
  • Alvin PD
  • Pearland PD
  • Baytown PD
  • Galveston County Sheriff's Office
  • Texas DPS
  • U.S DEA
  • BATFE

I realize that the police are making a sincere effort to clean up the violence and disorder associated with illegal drug dealing; but when they arrest the biggest dealer in town, the second- and third-biggest dealers get promotions.
