In yet another political move for the President, he's decided(to appease the world) to move the Gitmo detainees to his home state. Any surprises there? Pure political play.

If they have to bring them into the U.S. why not someplace remote.....like Prudo Bay, Alaska for crying out loud? Better yet Attu Island? Not into the heartland of the U.S. Gessshhhhhhh.

+1 on that. Those were the same thought I had, but you beat me to the punch. At least if an incident did occur where they escaped they wouldn't be able to get into the general population.

I can't understand all the hand-wringing about "making our cities targets" if they're moved to CONUS. We have plenty of convicted terrorists in federal prison already. Nobody has nuked Florence, Colorado over it.

Johnston Atoll might be better suited to their temperament. My vote is for Attu Island. Same remoteness, but the temperature a little more, shall we say a little less accommodating.

With any luck, they'll be shipped to Hyde Park in Chicago (home to POTUS when he ain't POTUS), and they can get further instruction in terrorism from Bill Ayers.

This is sickening. Dirtbag Durbin says that they asked the citizens around Thompson, IL about this idea, and that the community is very receptive. I just got off the phone with a friend that lives close to Thompson, and he says that the community as a whole is outraged and quite upset. Big surprise, that we would get a differing story from politicians...especially Illinois politicians!

Yahoo Local Maps tells me that Thompson, IL is about 980 miles from mine and Mrs. Oldgringo's permanent residence.

If that's where the POTUS, his minions and the good folk of Thompson want it, I guess that'll be okay with us.

Its past time for a trial. Lack of clear rules puts these folks in limbo.

I agree. If they are criminals, put them in Prison. I don't care where.
