Before you hit "post reply" at the bottom of the message you are replying to, hit the "quote" box in the top right hand corner of the message. Then take out everything you don't want to quote. Be sure and leave everything in the brackets at the beginning and end of the quote.

All I did was as Granny said. Be sure you leave in the brackets around the words "quote" and "/quote".

Yea guys that's one way to do it. but if you are already writing a reply to a tread and want to quote multiple people, use this syntax

[*quote="PERSON YOU ARE QUOTEING"] blah blah blah blah .[/quote*]

**note remove the asterisk

and it will look like this
PERSON YOU ARE QUOTEING wrote: blah blah blah blah .

Just a note for anyone wanting to display how to use quoting, bold, etc.: look below the reply box. The first option is to "Disable BBCode in this post".

Check that box, and you can show the code correctly without having to spoof it with asterisks.

For example:
[quote]This text would appear as a quote in a white box.[/quote]

[b]This text would appear in bold type.[/b]

[i]This text would appear in italics.[/i]

[url=http://www.yourURLgoeshere.com]This text would be a clickable link.[/url]

You can also disable smilies. This is useful when making a numbered list, so that item 8) doesn't look like a "cool" smilie. (I don't think that's a problem on this forum, because the smilies are formatted differently. But on most forums, it is.)

Another nifty trick.

Type or paste in the text you want to quote.

Highlight with your mouse.

Click the Quote Button.

It will surround your highlighted text with the quote tags.

Perfect!
