Kay Jewelers doesn't trust you or your gun

Went to Pearland town center yesterday, and was going to sneak into Kay Jewelers to look for a gift for my bride. I was greeted with this.

I called the manager of the store, and she stated I was the first person to call since the sign went up nearly 18 months ago. I was polite, but dissapointed as this was first time since I got my CHL that I was unable to enter a private business that was 30.06 (other than work or already known locations)
I ask that anyone who is bothered by this to please call the store at (713) 340-1036 and customer care at 1-800-527-8029. I'd really like to see this sign come down. Sign likely not compliant, but they don't need to know that.

It is kinda' silly. It doesn't say anything about an unlicensed person carrying a gun into the store. Oh well, every kiss may not begin with a KAY...henceforth.

Jerrard's @ Pearland has the signage (same corporate owners).
Was there armed security present ? Jerrad's had an armed guard at the door. I even saw what looked like a bullet in his top pocket.....

.
The manager said you were the first to comment. I wonder if she tracks how many potential customers they lost by folks just walking away -- like we recently did at Jerrad's. These businesses just don't get it ! A warm body is a sale !
I've seen Kay's stores in other malls, but don't recall seeing any signage. Every Jerrad's I 've seen has it. As discussed a while back, one I saw even had the TABC 51% sign

Phone calls alone won't do much. You need to buy your sweetie something nice at another jeweler who doesn't post 30.06, then photocopy the receipt and send it to this Kay store's manager and to corporate stating very clearly that you tried to buy this item from their store, but their discriminatory sign prohibiting a law-abiding CHL holder from entering forced you to take your business elsewhere.
In other words, "show them the money" they are losing because of that sign.

Set them up some time if you're inclined.
Have your lady go in (she'll have to disarm first) and spend about an hour picking out three or four really nice and expensive items. Then, she calls you on the cell to come and approve and pay.
Oops, you can't legally enter, so sorry, we'll have to go somewhere else....
There are other jewelry stores not posted where I have purchased things for my wife. I've been there packing and they rent a real cop. If he notices, which is not likely, he didn't say anything.

I hope they get robbed. Then someone can point out to them that their stupid sign did not apply to the person who robbed them, and that it might have actually aided in accomplishing the robber's goals.
When it comes to blind corporate policies, the best learned lessons are the ones that cost them money.

Jared used to have a non-compliant 30.05 sign up about a year ago when I got my wedding ring and jewelry for my wife there, but now they have the compliant 30.06, so have not been back since. I can order online cheaper anyway.
They do have a security guard, but not very impressive, not too observant and definately did not walk people out to their cars. oh well..

Technically that isn't a compliant sign. In the SPANISH part it says "30." instead of "30.06"

I'd guess someone vandalized it. I personally wouldn't want to be a test case for that one...
Did you make sure they knew they lost your sale?

I think we need to stop worry about these places, it not like kay's has a monopoly on overprices jewelry. Yes 30.06 sign keeps people safe the same way an "all employees must wash hands" sign keeps the burgers clean. Some people need to cling to the illusion that they are safe, just like some kids don't want to hear Santa is not real. The decision to carry is a personal and moral choice. And you cannot force one set of morals on persons that do not want them, despite weather or not they are in the wrong. My point is people of differing values need their own space. They should not intrude on our spaces (gun ranges/our homes and cars) and we should not intrude on their space (lala land).

This is the only way these signs are going to come down.
