Question regarding PA Non-Resident Carry License

I followed the advice of a post I saw earlier somewhere here and got a Pennsylcania License to Carry. Amazingly quick I might add. Check and application sent December 17 and permit issued Dec 22 and received by me Dec 28. My question is this. My TX CHL expires 5/16/14 and the PA expires 12/22/14. I waited six months for Tx appliaction to be processed and have read of even of even longer delays for initial and renewals for CHLs. I plan to renew as soon as I am allowed to but, if the scenario should occur that TX is slow to issue my renewal is the PA license valid after my Texas CHL expires? Thanks to any who can answer.

Yes. The two licenses have nothing to do with one another, except that Pennsylvania seems to accept the Texas training and background checks to some extent.

Texas turnaround times are coming way down. There is still a backlog, but by 2014 I expect turnaround will be in the neighborhood of 5 minutes. ;-)

Thanks, Jim. I thought that the PA would be valid which is why I got it seven months after my Tx CHL, but someone told me that since the PA used TX info (BG check) it was only valid for the duration of the TX lic. Didn't want to refute it with out the facts. I hope the turnaround for Harris Co is better in 5 years.
