Apologies to our fine Texas boys (Able, CheapAsDirt, AmmunitiontoGo) whom I buy from if I am so desperate that I want to pay state sales tax, but my current fave is ProAmmo. I admit that I favor availability over price. When I want it, I want it. And Delmic almost always has Hornady in stock. Who do you guys prefer to buy from?

I've had great luck at Sportsman's Guide. Being a Buyers Club member, I get a discount and they always have what I need.

If I want to buy anything of significance, I drive over to ammunitiontogo and pick it up in person. That saves me shipping costs, which is better than saving on tax.

The real sweet part of the deal is that I can often get someone else to pick up the gas by making it a day trip to the Blue Bell Creamery. Ammunitiontogo is a short drive from there. And you get to go to the creamery and sample ice cream!

Works fine for me. If you are in reasonable driving distance (and I guess that depends on your personal definition of reasonable, I'm from Austin), it's a better deal to drive on out there. They're just fine with in-person pickup. Just make sure they have what you want in stock and walk on up, no ordering required. My experiences with them have been pleasant. I only wish now that I would have purchased more 7.62x54R when it was 11 cents/round by the case!

Also, if you're near a Cabela's and they carry what you want, they'll ship it to the store at no additional charge. It's generally less than a week wait if it's in stock.

I have used ammunitiontogo and had real good service, however I normally use ammoman.com.

Whoa...I had no idea it shot up that much! I picked it up at $0.13 a round when I got my two sardine cans. Now, it's up to $0.19 a round! Yikes...maybe supplies are drying up?

Well, it shot up in price at the same time everything else did, when the excuse for the price hikes was "metal prices". Now, supplies may be more scarce now because of the hoarding business, but prices went up while there was still a lot of it available.

The selection of different types has gotten kinda thin. 3 years ago when I got my Mosin-Nagants, there were a lot of different varieties available. Now, you can only find Bulgarian, Hungarian, and some "new" (meaning, I never saw it until recently) Russian stuff. Czech ammo, which was said to be the most consistent and accurate of the varieties, seems to have completely dried up. I only occasionally see any of the steel-core stuff, and haven't seen it recently.

They're just regular guys. They seem to be constantly busy shipping stuff out. I walked up last time and there were 3 guys moving around boxes and crates of ammo, putting stuff in brown boxes for shipping.

The prices of ammo shot up because the noobs who got into shooting upon the election of the socialist party don't realize they are gotting hosed on ammo prices. As long as tards are willing to pay the high prices, one can't really fault the ammo dealers from sticking it to ya. I used to buy a lot of ammo from ammo man...but haven't purchased anything from him since he found suckers to sell to. I am still hoping the noobs will get tired of their new fascination and quit buying ammo at these ridiculous prices.

I personally like aimsurplus.com, the-armory.com(when they have stock the price is good), and ammoman. Ammotogo is alright, but magically their prices change when they appear at gun shows under a different name, so that kinda pisses me off. I like places that have decent pricing aren't in my state and ship for a penny or free.

I have to 100% disagree with you. Metal prices going up was an excuse for about a 5-10% increase....at most. The price increases doubled and tripled upon the election of the socialist party. The prices have come off slightly in the past 5 or 6 months but the prices are still fifty to sixty percent higher than pre-Oduma. A box of 9mm FMJ for instance was costing me 189 dollars DELIVERED for Federal Eagle in September, the last year of an America we could be proud of(2008). Once the citizens realized that freedom would no longer reign, ammo shot up.,,,no pun intended. At the peak of our destruction as a free nation...January 2009...ammo prices had reached a demand that supply could not possibly keep up with and ammo was up as much as 100%. These prices have NOTHING to do with increased metal prices. Supplies are back up now, but the dealers and distributors have us right where they want us....we will be hosed until ammo sales slow down to a point where guys like ammo man have to compete again.
