Cabela's is holding their "End of Season" sale from January 14 through 24, 2010.

Thanks for posting SIA - wish I was closer to Buda to justify a trip. At Bass Pro a bunch though...

Thanks again

LaserTex:

You did notice that 2 of the sale guns were Rugers, right?

Can you say "short road trip"? :-)

Actually that price on the Glocks with the rear-sight lasers doesn't look bad.

You got on your Nomex suit? 1911 pistols use either 7 or 8 round mags. Real pistoleros know this amateurs don't. ;-)

MoJo:

Thank you for stating the obvious.

Yes, I know that a full size 1911 has either 7 or 8 rounds,
even though I may be an amateur.

By the way, if you re-read the description of the weapon again,
you will notice that it is a COMPACT 1911. So is it a 5 + 1?
Is it a 6 + 1? I didn't go to the mfrs website to verify what it was.

The rounds available for this particular piece were not stated in
the ad, so I noted that.

You, as a professional, may pontificate at any time on the actual
number of rounds that this gun has.

SIA it was only meant as a good-natured ribbing. If I offended you I apologize.

The S&W "compact" is a Commander sized gun I erroniously assumed you knew this or that there was a pic in the ad. At this time S&W does not build any of the malfunction prone "Mini 1911s." I have read they may have one to show at the SHOT show this year but, they want all the bugs worked out before delivery.

FWIW, Academy has the S&W Sigma's for $319.99 and you get the $50 or 2 magazines. I know, because I have been thinking about getting the 9mm version.

I just noticed this in an email from the NRA:
Weekend at Cabela's
NRA members can visit any of the 30 nationwide Cabela's retail locations Fri., Feb. 5 through Sun., Feb. 7 for exclusive deals and a 10-percent discount on all in-store purchases (a small number of exceptions apply) with the clip-and-save coupon found in the Februrary American Rifleman magazine. NRA volunteers will be on hand to help you renew your membership or sign up your friends and family.
