Yep. It's really sad. I was on a road trip recently and had my shirt get hung up on the seatbelt hen I got out of the truck. I didn't realize it but the shirt ended up behind the gun, leaving the gun completely exposed. I stopped for gas, went to the grocery store, and noticed it on isle 11. Nobody gave me a second look. Big black gun against baby blue shirt. Not a soul noticed. I could've probably gotten away with carrying my AR15 on my back. Everyone is so wrapped up in themselves that I might as well be invisible.

The thing you want to avoid is physical contact. If somebody bumps into your gun, they notice. If you catch the gun on a corner, door, etc and it makes a loud clunk, they notice. When you sit in a wood chair or resteraunt booth and it makes a big noise, they notice.

I know what you mean. Lately I have been carrying with just a light shirt on. If anybody was to take a serious look they could tell it was a full sized handgun under my shirt.. But I have never even been given a 2nd look by anybody.

Besides my dad, who was it that said, "you would not worry about WHAT people think about you if you knew how little they did"?

I was at a chinese buffet the other day with a friend of mine that knows I carry. I don't know how long my shirt had been pulled up and behind the butt of my gun, but it wasn't noticed by anyone other than the friend I was with. I had gone back to the buffet for seconds (yep, ate too much), and when I got back to the table my friend said to me "You're Showing". I calmly sat down, pulled my shirt back over my USP, and just continued as normal. Nobody gave me any strange looks or comments. There was nothing to suggest that anyone had noticed.

The lesson I learned from this is that even after you have become comfortable with carrying to the point that it's second nature to strap on while getting ready to leave the house, you still need to frequently ckeck your weapon while out and about.

I've only been carrying about 2 months, and am still coming across lessons to learn.

I've caught myself almost flashing a few times. Pulling on my shirt to clean my eyeglasses is one that I need to learn to stop. Adjusting after getting out of the car. Some of the IWB's I wear ride up a little when I sit or I move them to my side more when I'm in the car. Stalls in the public restooms are another caution area.....can't let those pants drop like my kids do when i'm carrying......It's definitely a learning experience.

I accidentally flashed it to my pastor's wife a month or so ago. Even though she knew I carried, it still sort of shocked her at first. (I was pulling up my shirt to show her the amount of belly fat I'm planning to lose, and had acclimated a little too much to the external bulge in my side.)
I've also pulled my shirt up a bit too much in public while reaching for my cell phone. Luckily, only dh noticed, and it happened just once.
Most of my tops are more fitted (not skin tight) and I simply make sure the gun is covered and doesn't scream "gun". Usually, it is just a bulge, and could as easily be a palm pilot or larger cell phone.
I go back to work tomorrow in a "gun free" school zone. I can legally have it in my car, so it will be in the glove box, but I will feel a bit odd without it on my hip.

Spent about a week with the in-laws who know I'm a "gun nut". They figured out my wife was carrying--because she TOLD them.

They never figured out that I was carrying IWB strongside even though they never saw me without a gun.

It's never as obvious as you think it is.

I carry a Kahr in an Uncle Mike's pocket hoster. It does print a little so I cut a check book holder in half and put it in the holster which does help some. However, when I go to Wal-Mart the women just can't keep their eyes off me. Now, I'm not sure if it's because they can tell I'm carrying and sense that I'm a "dangerous man" or if it's just my natural good looks. I've told my wife about the problem and she suggested it's because I always try to put my 40 inch waist into 36 inch jeans or maybe my fly is open since my waist size keeps my zipper from going up all the way.
