Expect not to worry. The shooting test isn't all that difficult. You won't have to be able to knock a flea of a tick's rear end at 50 yards.

Just pay attention and have fun. My class really didn't feel as long as it was. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

I would add only this: The time allowed for each string of shots (barring any malfunctions), is more than "generous". No need to rush your shot(s).

It is a surprisingly easy test at 3 & 7 yards, becomes a little more difficult (for most) at 15, but you should pass handily.

Have a good time, ask questions.

OK, for the real answer... the class is long, no way around that. Get a good night's sleep the night before. Most instructors encourage active participation, as it makes it more interesting for everyone, so ask questions.

You don't need to study anything beforehand, and you don't have to worry about failing. Just pay attention, follow instructions on the range, and it will be over before you know it.

It CAN be fun. Enjoy!

This is a very common mistake on timed fire.

I kept telling myself to slow down.......didnt work though. I think I was kinda excited when the range officer said that this was the only time rapid fire was allowed at that range. I could not help it.....I tried ....I really did. As long as you get all the shots at the 3 and 7 yards (very easy to do) you can miss every single shot at the 15 yard line and still pass. Although I would recommend that everyone TRY to slow down.

If you don't mind my asking, where are you taking the class? I'm taking my renewal this weekeend so I was just wondering if there was any chance we were taking the same class.

Personally, I enjoyed the entire class when I initially took it. I found it to be very interesting. As others have said, the shooting part is pretty easy. Even people who rarely shoot can pass it and it's pretty common for "good" shooters to shoot a perfect score (which is my personal goal for this coming Saturday).

Actually, I took the class last Saturday the 12th. I did shoot a perfect score and missed only one written test question. Mailed my packet off last Tuesday. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to worry about passing this class. It was pretty easy. I took the class at Bullethole here in San Antonio.
