As the title says, I've asked S&W but had no response. Can you fire the 45 super in a S&W scandium revolver?

Phew. I'd think twice about shooting that thing in any gun that has NOT been specifically modified for that particular round.

A regular .45 acp cartridge generates 21,00 p.s.i.
A .45 super generates 28,500 p.s.i.

Here's an interesting article regarding the .45 Super cartridge:
".45 SuperĀ® cartridges should never be fired from guns not been modified for this purpose. Slide hammering, caused by firing this cartridge in a firearm not modified for this specific purpose, could potentially result in the failure of the firearm's frame and slide, as well as serious injury to the shooter."

He only mentions pistols in his article... hummm. I definately wouldn't shoot it through my alloy framed kimber

I would imagine that a revolver built on the same frame as .44mags would be able to handle it. Then again, theroy and practice are totally different things. :headscratch

Boy howdy, I'd say so! That is so far out of my league of knowledge, I shouldn't even be talking to you! ;-)

I sure wouldn't do it. I see a blown off back strap in your future should you decide to go through with it.
