Anyone shoot this as their primary self-defense ammo? (Assuming your CCW is chambered in .45acp, of course). Thoughts on its' performance?

I've been offered 4 50-rd boxes of the stuff - from a local member on another forum - for $150. Good deal? (Per bullet, it seems less expensive than much of the 20-rd boxes of self-defense ammo I've seen on store shelves).

Any and all input is appreciated!

I carry the 127 grain +P+ in my 9mm and have been pleased with the ammo. I'd say go for it - the price seems right.

That stuff is no good at all. Could you possibly forward me the member's email address so I can scold him for trying to pawn this terrible ammunition off on you : )

I have shot some and have about half box left. The round design is the same as the old Black Talon, but a little better - or so I am told. It kicks like +P ammo - reminds me of Speer 200gr Gold Dot +P, and accuracy as good as most other defensive ammo I have tried. Recoil recovery is noticably longer (for me anyway) than what I use now which is Corbons DPX. The price actually seem pretty fair.

I use the standard velocity 230 Gr. Ranger. I've shot the +P, but decided not to use it. There was no particular reason, I just didn't think I needed +P.

I get a lot of my ammo from OK Ammo Center and they have the standard non +P there. I think it was like $35/box of 50 I think. I have and use the 9mm stuff from there as well as the Hornady Critical defense. I have had good luck with the RA9B and tests showed it pretty good stuff as well. I suspect the 45 is good too.

Yep... I have used it also. It feeds reliably in my Kimber Ultra Carry. I assume it will kill or severely maim a person if I shoot them in the chest with it. In other words... I feel sure it will work as it was meant to work. That price seems fair considering the market conditions. I just realize you are asking about the +P stuff. I didn't get the +P for the same reason Charles mentioned. My Ultra carry has enough recoil with standard loads.

It is what I have in my Champion right now just not the +P. I would grab it in a minute if I had the offer.

I've used it before and had no problems. Never had to use it for serious business.

I like HP ammo that sells in 50 round boxes. 20 or 25 barely fills two magazines for some guns.

I realize a lot of the Hornady/Speer ammo has been reputations, but how does the cheaper Winchester HP ammo match up? Anyone seen any good info?
