Would it be OK to go get your fingerprint cards done prior to going to the class and having your Form 100?
What about those affidavits? Could you already have those ready as well.The class i am attending don't
do those tasks as a part of the class.I have my photos already in hand.Thanks!

There's no reason that you couldn't.

Many if not most instructors do everything during the class and make sure your paperwork is filled out correctly. IMHO, that's the better way to go. But it's not mandatory.

The really important thing that you can do early is compile your residence, employment, and criminal record history (if any). A lot of people seem to have trouble with those items.

I applied/paid online so i recieved a printout with the history stuff and made a few corrections on the right side as instructed.
I have had a CHL before for 8 years but let it lapse in 2004 due to family health issues.I am pretty famliar with most tasks
bu yes my class way back did do the prints and notary in the class but this one doe's not. There are some other courses that do
but this one is done at a Indoor firing range and the others are not, just a bit faster getting in/out.
I was thinking of getting printed Tuesday and the class is the following saturday.Then i could mail it monday.

Sounds good.

If you can get the FAST prints, they seem to go through with less trouble most of the time. They're not perfect, though.

There is a place here that doe's those but it costs $60...I usually get them at the PD and my prints are wore out
and he includes a letter on what the problem is.It worked ok on my ATF Form 1 recently for a SBR stamp.
I have had a lifetime of working with my hands and metal and wore off my prints.Well dang near anyway.

That should work. Good luck.

The FBI announced that there would be a logjam in the fingerprint process at the end of April, but your application should be approved by then: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32541" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I too have that same problem. I asked the same question and Crossfire suggested Cornhusker's Lotion to help plump up the ridges. I used it 3 times a day before the class. Come class time, I used it about 30 minutes before my prints were taken. And my prints passed with no problems.

It's good stuff and I highly recommend it. Thanks for the suggestion Crossfire!! :tiphat:

You might want to try that.

Just be sure your paperwork is done correctly. I double checked mine and still left one little thing off. That set mine back 2 months. If you have your act together there won't be a problem, I didn't. Nobodies fault but mine.

Yes they are. And the skin feels dry and tight. Using the Cornhusker's Lotion a LOT seems to help.

Also, I noticed you said that the FAST fingerprinting method costs $60.00???? I checked into it in my area and it was only $10.

There's a FAST location in Abilene, on Clyde St. You have to call their national 800 to make an appointment. But they are open 6 days/week. Here's the link:

Well I can't say for sure, but since DPS recommends it, I'd have to say they are well acquainted with the DPS procedure, so I'd assume so.

Here's a link to DPS and what they say about it. AND a link to the FAST website when you get ready to call them and make an appointment. When you call you can ask them those particular questions you have:

Welllll, I'm showing it is. It's in the Central Region:
Abilene Abilene, TX. (141 Clyde Street # B) [Map (opens new browser)] M - F 9-5, Sat 9-12

It's on this page with the 800 number:
http://www.ibtfingerprint.com/locations/?st=tx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
