Hey guys, trying to get some input on which is better a ramped barrel or conventional ramped frame ?? I have noticed some 45 ACP have ramped barrels and some have ramped frames which is better ??

If the gun (and I assume you're talking 1911's here) is set up properly it shouldn't matter, but if you have a frame machined for a fully ramped barrel, you can't go back :-)

That said for high pressure cartridges (9mm, 460 Rowland) I would go with a ramped barrel for the extra support around the brass, though you can get 'non-ramped' barrels for those calibres

Note also in 1911's there are 2 types of ramped barrel designs:

# Wilson/Nowlan (I think this is what STI uses)
# Clark/Para

yes i am sorry, I am talking about 1911's I now if you machine a frame for a ramped barrel you can't go back but I did not know if there are any feed issues between the two. I guess if it worked for the Army the ramped frame must not be that bad ??

millions of 1911s are happily operating with the configuration that John Browning designed. :-)
