Forend Vertical Grips that don't require a rail?

Do they make such a beast? Maybe one that mounts to the exhaust vents on the handguard?

Here's what my hand guards look like (holes on top and bottom)

Are there any broomhandle vertical grips for these?

The ones I have seen require drilling a hole in the bottom of the grip. From there you run a bolt through the hole downward and screw into the foregrip.

A little "rigged" looking, but may be about your only option.

Not that I know of. But you can buy a small rail that fits on your stock forearm and then any grip will work.

Go here-

http://www.sogarmory.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

SOG is a company in Houston that is all things AR. Search for part 1010, it is $15.99 and will let you retain your stock forearm. I do not know how strong the reasulting grip will be though. I would not put too much pressure on it myself.

I think I've seen somewhere a short piece of picatinny rail that can attach to standard grips through the vent holes. Then mount any foregrip you like on the picatinny I guess.

Edited to add: Something like this I suppose ... http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=128009" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No idea how strong it is or whether it's advisable to mount a grip on such a rail.

Thanks for the info folks! I think I am going to leave well enough alone on my Bushmaster. I'll chalk it up to 'live and learn' and don't impulse buy a rifle. :lol:

I am going to concentrate on my AR build. I just ordered the stripped upper today (along with a lower parts kit) and am anxious to build out one that I *know* I will like.

Don't get me wrong, I liked my A2 when I purchased it. And it's still a fun shooter today. But I want to build one that can do everything I want it to do instead of trying to retrofit!

That'll work, but it will cost less and be less work to build out your existing rifle. It's not all that hard to remove the existing handguards and substitute a rail system.

Yeah, but then I won't have two AR's. "rlol"
