Weapon Photos...

Someone please explain to me why in a lot of the photos of pistols that are posted, someone puts a Pen or other object in the trigger guard, in front of the trigger.

I can understand putting it behind the trigger (still inside the guard) so if something were to happen, the pen or other object, would block the trigger, but when it is in front, that seems it would be easier to mistakenly engage the trigger.

Thanks

It's to prop the firearm up. So that the picture taker can get a more three dimensional view of the firearm.

Greg, thanks, I guess I was over analyzing it a bit then.

I've done it. I just make sure the gun is not loaded first...safety, safety, safety.

3-D Metal objects are notoriously difficult to photograph, because of the reflections and depth of field required. To get the lighting right to bring out details, without unwanted reflections, all sorts of tricks are used.
