Personally I wouldn't make an shooting date with a stranger online, especially one who you know has a gun. I can tell you that the Bersa Thunder has a magnificent trigger <5 lbs SA, recoils like a water pistol, and is thin enough to conceal very nicely (I just kissed my wife goodbye with one tucked in her IWB holster). If you're willing to deal with the .380 famine, buy it! You don't need to shoot it to discover that it's an amazing gun and very inexpensive. If you're looking for a .380, you'll never regret a Bersa Thunder.

Also, most ranges that rent guns have a Bersa.

Dan, with all due respect, I'd think there should be a different range other than "Bullet hole" that would rent those, in the San Antonio area. There's just got to be. Maybe not in SA proper but maybe out to San Marcos, or to the south, etc.

CV made a GREAT suggestion. Just don't limit it to the ranges you are aware of.....just a friendly suggestion. :tiphat:

If I was in ole San An and I had a Bersa, I'd have no problems meeting up with someone online in a public setting.

I've met some great people on the local board and if it wasn't for that forum, I never would have fired a 50bmg Barrett rifle.

The only range in the SA that I'm aware of that rents guns is The Bullet Hole and they don't list a Bersa. The only 380 they list is a Sig P-232. I'm interested in comparing the felt recoil between the Bersa and a Keltec P3AT, CZ-82 and FEG PA-63. It's something I've been curious about and don't want to have to buy a Bersa just to satisfy that curiosity. I'm well aware of the quality and reputation of the Thunderer and if I was interested in a 380 that size, it would be my first choice.

I also don't see any risk involved in meeting someone at public range like the Bullet Hole. It can only be accessed through the office and there are always a number of armed people around if I need to holler for help. :clapping: If no one is interested, I'm OK with that. It doesn't hurt to ask.
I've got an LCP, so I can tell you that the Bersa will kick a LOT less than that P3AT.

+1 from me. I have had numerous dealings with TxCHL Members and ALL have been fantastic. Meeting someone at a range for a lil informal testing wouldn't give me pause at all.

To each his own, but literally anyone in the world can join and say anything. I could be an anti-gun radical, old man, a woman, a 12 year old child, a federal agent trolling to see what the local pro-gun scene in about down in Texas, or my favorite, a man that fixated on a smart comment that was directed to him from another member (and he changed his user name). Believe it or not, I'm not a mouse with a revolver. (Sorry TAM, I'll never lie to you again, I promise.)

Sure, this site isn't appropriately oriented or filled with children, but I don't likes to take chances. I always clear the weapon and I never take ammo from strangers.

Everyone I've met from this forum (and I've met a few now) have been very nice, decent, and cordial.

To get back on topic....

DubiousDan, if you were anywhere near me, I'd be more than happy to meet up
and let you take my Bersa for a test drive. :tiphat:

But I bet a lot of people on this forum have met others to sell firearms and you don't hear a lot of no don't do that's

I would much rather meet someone from this forum at a known range for a little "I shoot yours, you shoot mine" then a Wally World parking lot to sell a gun.

+1 on the Bersa being a more pleasant gun to shoot over the LCP. We own both. The wife carries the LCP a lot. It is easy to conceal and (at close range) is accurate enough for government work....but it isn't really a range gun.

That said, neither is a Bersa! We have the Concelaed Carry version and the 'sights' are...well....lets just say I have had bigger skeeter bites!

I really cannot comment too much on the reliabilty of the Bersa because I had a torrid time with mine for a while, but having said the last trip to the range after it returned from the gunsmith (for the second time) it did spit 50 out flawlessly so I am hoping that the issues were ironed out.

The thing is, I still actually like the feel of the Bersa and (IMHO) it shoots a lot 'less harshly' than the LCP.

If I lived closer you could definately try it out. My wife and I are sort of planning a trip to Buda in the near future so if you still need a test drive in about 3-4 weeks, let me know. :tiphat:

I would have no problem at all meeting up at a public range with someone from a gun forum. Heck... I have a gun too. :tiphat: Just curious...a question for some of you fellers that issued the warnings. Have you ever purchased a gun form anyone on line??? I have to assume you would not do this either as it is more risky than setting up a shooting date.
