22/45 with replaceable grips

Finally! Ruger made a 22/45 that takes 1911 grip panels. I think you have to modify them slightly, but now you can customize it just like the standard 'Luger' style Rugers. I bought it last weekend, it shoots as good as any Ruger firearm I've ever owned. Set me back about $350. The finish on the gun (blued) and the grips was perfect. Even my old MkII 22/45 mags work in it even though Ruger says they won't.

Shot steel plates at 12, 25, and even planted 5 out of 10 at 50 yds. Burned through 400rds of ammo in about 3 hours. Just have to change the front sight with one I can see and I will be in business. No hiccups at all, the MkIII and MkII mags all worked fine.

One complaint- the loaded chamber indicator is just dumb in a 22 plinking/target gun, and it serves as a great gunk collector. And those tapered bolt ears will pinch you if you're not careful. Oh and I don't like the ribbed trigger :cryin maybe I can find a smooth one somewhere...

I'll see if I can get some pics of it up, she's a beauty in spite of my gripes!

I would like the grip to be a little thicker on the 22/45 I have. Same complaint about the front sight. To fat and all black. I want a fiber optic front and two dot rear.
