Me & Mrs. Bluelineman are headed down to Fredericksburg & possibly San Antonio (may make a quick stop in Austin too??) in a few weeks. Do you guys know of any places that are 30.06 posted (that are worth visiting)? I have a CHL BTW.
Any suggestions for places to visit/things to do? We plan on staying in Frederciksburg most of the time & probably will make a quick day trip to SA. I have been to SA (don't know the area well), wife has not. Neither of us have been to Fredericksburg.
Thanks!

My wife's family is from Fredericksburg, and so I've gotten the chance to spend a lot of time there in the past.
Honestly, there is a lot of shopping to do-- a little expensive, but fun, none-the-less. I'm a big history buff, and the Museum of the Pacific War is there-- pretty neat stuff. It's always hard to drag the wife, though! :)
Have fun!
Haven't been to Fredericksburg since I got the CHL, so I didn't notice any signs!

I haven't been to F'burg since April '93, but I loved it then. The town consists of a main drag, with a few side detours. It's definitely a walking tour. Lots of artsy stores, wine outlets, antiques, and local products. I never made it out to the big rock.
For me, long-time fan of Jerry Jeff Walker that I am, F'burg was an interesting detour from my main goal: Luckenbach. I reveled in the cool of the dance hall, silent at the time. I rubbed Hondo's bust. I quaffed a Lone Star in the General Store And Post Office.
I sat under The Tree. (There were no chickens in stereo at the time.)
I hear that in recent years, the tourism attraction to Luckenbach has led to improved roads. What a shame. Anyone going to Luckenbach should have to find it by carefully reading a topographic map, squinting at FM roadsigns, stabbing at the brakes and making a u-turn at least once.
The old-fashioned way. Just like Hondo intended.

Mrs. Anygun drags me through F'burg often. Honestly, I have never seen any posted places us tourists go. On the main drag there are wine tasting places posted 51%. I carry all the time in the Hill Country. I have nevr seen any posted places in Kerrville either.
BTW, Kevin, Luckenbach is still hard to find if'n you have not been there in awhile. Last time we were there I wandered into the store and into the bar while carrying. Kind of lost in the moment. Realized where I was and exited out the side door.
Long live Jerry Jeff.

Nimitz museum in Fredericksburg is a should do. I don't know if it's 30.06, I haven't been there in a few years and was with a school group at the time. Doubt that it is, very few places around there are.

Enjoy!

Thanks. I wasn't thinking of 51% places until you mentioned it.
I guess my original post should've said 30.06 or 51% places.
