Remington is putting out a 1911 in June. It looks pretty sharp and the MSRP is $699. My wife got an e-mail from Remington about it. Has anyone seen one yet? Or is Remington keeping it a secret until June?

Where did you get the info that it's "Assembled" in the Philippines? All current indications are that it is completely made in house by Remington at the New York Facility.

Remington insists that it is made in their North Carolina plant.
At that price point, they obviously use a lot of MIM parts. I don't have a problem with that. Since a 1911 is almost always a "project gun" begging for further customization or personalization, it makes sense to start at a lower price point, rather than higher.
I'm going to be adding a 1911 to the stable something in the coming year. I'm going to look really hard at the Remington.

Here's a good place for REAL info on the gun, can't do better than the official website.

If the new Remington 1911 pistol actually does retail for $699, it is not made in NY. It may be assembled there, and shipped from there like the e-mail says; but not manufactured there at that price.
That does not mean that it is not an OK choice for a budget 1911. Probably AMSCOR made the parts and Remington did the final assembly.

Same thing that American Standard, High Standard, Rock Island and who knows how many others do.
This does not make them bad, just less expensive. Looks like yet another good deal. Manufacturers are listening.
I may have to add one to my stable.
