I "need" a new soft case for my patrol rifle. It's the LMT MRP CQB Piston...my requirements are fairly unique and I will highlight the shortcomings of my current bag:

Current bag is a 42" UTG

It has a single shoulder sling that carries terribly. When all the mag holders are fully loaded, the bag is bulky and akward. The bag will not close with a 30rd Pmag in the well due to the aimpoint...no bueno. The bag does not have internal velcro to hold the weapon in place during transport.

I need a bag that is not super bulky with huge saddlebags because it will ride in the trunk along with a billion other things that cops feel they need in their vehicles (fire extinguisher, crime scene box, tools, tire, camera, AED, first aid kid, paperwork...etc). However, I need for it to carry the torque wrench to change barrels (more so I don't lose it), a small cleaning kit, and some loaded mags (I also have a bail out/active shooter bag with mags/trauma kits etc). I want something high quality so cost is not a primary consideration. I am looking to switch to a rectangular "discreet" type case, not to be secretive, but because I feel like it fits a patrol rifle, 30rd mag, and raised optic better. Also easier to use what pockets the bag does have. I'm looking for a 36" case as I feel the 42"s are too long and bulky.

Also - if someone is crafty enough to make a case, I'd be willing to consider having a custom case made. I know TT (tactical tailor) can but he is busy with orders for alot of SF guys playing in A-stan, so an off the rack case is probably my best bet.

I have one of these and really enjoy it. It has backpack straps, room for 2 rifles, plenty of room for extra mags, and 2 smaller padded areas for handguns or optics. I looked at these - I think they may be in the same boat as the Condor for me...too much sugar for a nickle. Usually I would love all the extra space, but I'm trying to be efficient in my nosebleed (expensive) bag selection if that makes sense?

I like the Molle system up front, can change out which pouches I use (or use none at all). I'm actually on this same quest. I am looking more at the coyote brown/dark earth colors because that matches the interior of my vehicle, which is an SUV (I'll get to why the color is important in a second). I'm favoring the more Plain Jane looking ones, meaning no digital camo, no molle webbing, no externally visible magazine pockets, etc. I want it to be as generally nondescript as possible, while still being designed for that purpose.

My car is a 2002 Pathfinder, and I would like to throw my carbine into it and keep it there, but there is really no place to put a rifle that is out of sight to anyone who walks close to my car. Now all the windows in the back are pretty dark factory-tinted, and it is difficult to see if anything is back there to the outside observer. I can't tell what the objects are, for instance, when I have my amp, guitar, and gig bag back there. I can see there is something there, but not what it is.

I figure to hide a rifle case in plain sight, so to speak. The back of the back seats are covered in the same carpeting material as the floor of the rear of the vehicle, so that when the seats are folded forward, it is one continuous stretch of carpeting material. That carpeting (as is the rest of the interior) is a sort of beige/coyote/dark earth color. I figure that I can get a soft carbine case in as close to that color as possible, and then fix it by means of bungee cords or velcro or something to lay flat against the back of those seats, then I'll have my carbine hidden in plain sight, but easy to access quickly.

You won't be disappointed with the quality of Tactical Tailor, they make outstanding gear, and I have never had a problem with any of their products.

Caveat being that mine sits empty under my bed 95% of the time. I use it when I'm taking my AR to the range or the family property for some plinking. It gets tossed around in back of the pickup quite a bit on those trips, but it's not an every day bag for me.

As long as by "special" you don't mean I ride the short bus!

Anyway, the guitar and amp are "small potatoes" as they say. My gear consists of a Larrivee D-03, a Fender Acoustisonic Jr., and a gig bag with E5s, Boss volume pedal, Peterson StroboStomp tuner, 1/4" cables, extra batteries, and extra string sets and other odds and ends. No big deal, but it all works, and the guitar sounds great.

I only use the amp on Monday nights, because the stage on which I'm playing has an intermittently working monitor on my side of the stage, and it can't be depended on, and I guess they can't afford to fix it right now. So I run the guitar into the pedals, to the amp, and out the amp to the direct box; and I face the amp backwards and use it as a monitor. The rest of the times I play, I play into a direct box and have an Aviom box to set my own mix and plug my E5s into.

Well it wasn't explicitly a spec, but the lower price had me wondering - this case will be handled and transported to/during/from work almost daily. The handles will carry around the significant weight of weapon, optics, cleaning stuff, and ammo. It'll get banged around in the trunk of a crown vic that the at times is flying through town, around corners, and over rail road tracks....that's why I put cost as a secondary consideration. Right now the TT bag is in the leading, as I had one of their gun rugs and it was amazing quality - I also tend to like companies that have a cult-like special operations following (ie Kirafu packs).

Larue is also now in the running too - I can't believe I didn't even think of them, I have their mount on my aimpoint, and their VG on the rifle.

Another vote for Tactical Tailor...although the Eagle is nice, too. I got the Tactical Tailor and have been happy with it.

I found another possibility for you: Boyt Tactical Rifle 36" Case ($111) and the Boyt Tactical 41" Shotgun Case ($155).

Also, Boyt makes, for a LOT more money, the Boyt Tactical - Soft Bag-Hard Case Combination, which is a removable tactical case like one of the above, which fits into a regular hard shell case for airline and marine use — but the price is a whopping $332.50!

How about Galati Gear?
