I just tried to hold both my XD and 1911 like that and not only was it extremely uncomfortable but the gun was not stable in my hand. I dont think that I will be using that method anytime soon. I prefer my bottom 3 fingers on the grip to maintain a steady and reliable hold and shot.

I dont see this as a discussion of the 1911 as much as an unconventional grip
I can summarize - if you decide to use this unconventional shooting grip you may have problems with some guns.
Another way to put it is ... If you use a tool in a way that very few people do and the tool was likely not designed for, you may have complications ...
another title for the thread might be "Is the unconventional grip with some 1911's possibly fatal 4 U???"

So "point shooting" with your middle finger on the trigger is the ONLY effective way of firing a handgun in CQB situations? Wow, I guess someone better retrain nearly every shooter I've ever seen at a pistol range including local, state, and Federal LEOs and military personnel.

I have to really want to push that very bad to get it to budge to the point of affecting my slide on my Kimber.

Lets see, holding your index finger close to rapidly moving parts in a high stress situation sounds like a great idea. Or better yet I could loose the tip of my finger should I try this method of shooting with my LCR (gases escaping between the forcing cone and cylinder). so I guess many revolvers have a design flaw too. In fact I am getting a feeling that you have brought this topic up in the past, and it
wasn't received well. In essence point shooting does have its place, but the method you advocate is dangerous to the shooter and reduces their control of the firearm rendering it both unsafe and unwise.

The video was probably made by glock in order to downplay the much better 1911

And to answer the OPs original question...
Absolutely NOT

That technique only works when performing tactical shoulder rolls while wearing ceramic plates duct-taped to your Level III-A body armor, so that you can fight your way to your tactical Segway.
But thank you for keeping the malls of America safe from terrorist attacks!

Real bad, dangerous thing to do. This should be posted in the "never again" section perhaps. Now airplane videos? I'm not sure there is a place for that here.

I have owned and shot 1911 pistols for over 40 years and I have yet to attempt such a goofy hold on any of them.
It is uncomfortable and makes the pistol hard to control.
The 1911 was not designed to be used that way.
Any tool used in a manner that it was not designed to be used in is going to make it less safe. Try that goofy grip with your chain saw. It's going to bite you.
Your thread title is way off topic of the post.
Try "Does holding my pistol in a goofy ghetto way make it harder to shoot?"
Or "Hey - I tricked you into looking at my airplane pictures that are not related to the topic title"

It appears to be no more than spam infomercial based on the content, the user avatar.
And no thank you on your "technique" .
Any firearm or piece of equipment used incorrectly can be hazardous to your health..

Regarding that video: Siskel and Ebert would have given it two thumbs down, asked for their money back, used it for cab fare to go to the film creator's house, and beat him with truncheons until he swore on his mother's grave that he would never, EVER get near another gun, speak as it he was an authority on shooting, or post another film ANYWHERE. He would also be required to turn in his man card.
Honestly, that video can be best described as "inciting negligent behavior."

That video is complete nonsense!
If you use a tool, any tool, in a manner other than the way it was designed, you can expect to have problems.
Middle, ring and pinky go on the grip, Booger hook goes on the trigger. Whats so hard about that
