I went to Eagle Peak last Monday and put half a brick through my .22, 100 rounds through my 9, 100 through my LCP, and about 50 rounds through my 12 gauge; so all together about 525 round in about 3 hours. This is not a huge number of rounds, but certainly a lot for me in one setting. Immediately after leaving the range, I noticed that the tip of my trigger finger went completely numb like it had fallen asleep, or like a band aid was wrapped around it. I expected it to go back to normal quickly, but feeling is very slowly returning with a noticeable amount still remaining.

I'm sure in a day or two the finger will be back to normal, but I've never experienced numbness from repetitive stress to any part of my body. Is this normal, has anyone here experienced a numb trigger finger?

I've never had a problem with the trigger finger but I have had the one next to it get me in trouble a time or two.

At least it hasn't started to itch yet....

On a more serious note, no, I've never experienced that.

I've had numbness from shooting heavy recoiling handguns before but, it was always the whole hand. Numbness and tingling in a single digit is sometimes indicative of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Before I had my CT surgery my fingers would tingle and be numb after any strenuous or repetitive activity. If it keeps up have it checked.

This is not normal. It is a symptom of nerve damage.

I had a similar symptom when I injured my back and learned that I had premature arthritis.

I am not a physician, but I'll bet you won't find one that will tell you that shooting 100 rounds at a time through a micro .380 is a good idea.

BTW, I have a Kel-Tec P3AT, so I'm not dissing the species. But my usual routine is to shoot any number of .22 and 9 mm, and then a few from the Kel-Tec. Besides, who can afford it?

I have had an achy wrist for a bit after 2 hours of shooting my Glock 26, LCP .380 and Bretta Bobcat .22lr. Never gotten a sore trigger finger though. The wrist didn't ache long either, not like your finger. I have no problems with my wrist when shooting my Ruger SR3 9mm or the Bersa .380 so I think it is because those other guns are tiny. I, too, would recommend you see your doc about it. Good luck, hope it isn't anything really serious.

I agree, this is not normal.

I have experienced short periods of numbness after sessions with my large caliber handguns. I do have arthritus in my shooting hand, so I have not been too concerned about it. After one session of 30-40 rounds of full power 460 S&W, I had tingling for several days. I stopped doing so many at time. Getting old is not much fun.

Yeah but it beats the alternative!

It's been a week and it doesn't feel funny to type anymore, but I've still got a little numbness. I'm gonna' give it one more week before I worry about going to the Dr. It felt like a band-aid was wrapped around my entire fingertip for the first couple of days and now there's just a little lingering on the side. Thanks for the input guys.
