I just wanted to see if anyone out there has a Walther P22 and what ammo works for this gun?

I was using the CCI Mini-mags 22LR HP, which worked great, but have not been able to find any in months. I did try the Federal brand 525rd box, but the gun kept jamming.

Try Fiocchi FMJ 40 Grain... it's been very reliable in my Sig Mosquito, which is also quite finicky when it comes to what it likes to eat. I've been able to find it at "The Arms Room" in League City for $2.99 a box of 50.

oh-oh, just bought a P22 and a 525 count box of the Federal!

Going to the range tomorrow - we'll see how it goes.

My Sig chokes on the 550 at least once per magazine. Too bad too because it sure was cheap!

We've been shooting the Remmington Thunderbolts with no probs.

Have you tried remington yellow jackets? Those tend to feed well in my Walther TPH. CCI mini-mags do seem to be the best for my gun too, but the yellow jackets are largely trouble free as are the remington vipers.

I buy the Federal 550 brick from walmart. Never had any problems with it.

I've never had any FTFs as far as I can rembember and I've put 3 boxes of the stuff through it. Only time I've ever had a problem with it cycling was because the gun was very very dirty.

I picked up a Walther P-22 from a neighbor earlier today. It has the 5.5" barrel with the stabilizer, and is almost new. It does not have the additional set of grips, and no book. I cannot find a book/owners manual available on line yet. Did find one as an Adobe D/L, but prefer printed material.

I will be looking for ammo tomorrow. I think it was a deal with the factory box at $200.00.

Yes you did. $200 is a great price for the 5" model.

My Walther P22 sometimes doesn't feed a new round, and that's with just about any ammo. It's not getting jammed, it just doesn't catch another round to push it into the chamber when the old round ejects.
It may help if I actually get around to cleaning it though(it is rather nasty inside). I think it's so dirty that the slide doesn't make it back far enough to feed a new round.
Ignoring the feed issues though, Yellow Jacket, Stinger and Federal 550 seem to work pretty good.

The only ammo I have had major problems with is the Remington Golden Bullet, some rounds won't go off no matter what I do to them. One day I bought four 100 count boxes of that stuff. First box had 4 bad rounds, the other three boxes had at least 1 bad round each. Although when they do go off, they feed fine, that is, if the pistol actually catches the next round.

Send it where? All you need is a set of allen wrenches (assuming you have the 5" version) and normal gun cleaning stuff to clean the thing. There's hardly anything to clean, really.

I've not found mine to be picky about any brand of ammo. Aside from the prevalent bad primers in Remington Golden Bullet and Federal Blue Box, mine runs like a top and isn't picky about ammo at all. I've found Winchester 555 to be good, cheap bulk plinking ammo. I use that and CCI Standard Velocity in my .22LR guns these days.
