That's good info, AndyC. Thank you for posting.

Yep... and I found the formula helpful. I recently installed some night sights on my G19 and it was shooting left about 4-5" from 15 yards. I still need to make some fine adjustments but I need to get smarter on the best approach before I push the rear sight any more.WildBill wrote:As I was taught - "Move the rear sight in the direction that you want the bullet to go."Quahog wrote:That's good info, AndyC. Just for fun, here is another test.AndyC wrote:Exactly so, WildBillWildBill wrote:As I was taught - "Move the rear sight in the direction that you want the bullet to go."![]()
That's the easiest way to remember it - and the complete opposite for the front sight ie. "FORS": Front Opposite, Rear Same :)
The same formula works for windage, too - I believe the Glock 19 has a 6" sight-radius, so use 540" for the distance of 15 yards and 4" for the error.Quahog wrote:I recently installed some night sights on my G19 and it was shooting left about 4-5" from 15 yards. Here's your test - assuming an error of 4" at that distance, do the calculation and tell me how much to move the rear sight - and in which direction?
I'd push it right by 0.044"AndyC wrote:The same formula works for windage, too - I believe the Glock 19 has a 6" sight-radius, so use 540" for the distance of 15 yards and 4" for the error.

I'm guessing you'd file the right side of the front sight to move the POA to the right but I don't know how much you'd have to take off to make a proper correction.TxD wrote: Just for fun, here is another test.
S&W 442 impacting 3" left @ 7 yards as in the first target example above.
Front sight is .125 wide and sight plane is 3.75".
How much and which side of front sight to file off to move impact to center?
You misplaced a decimal point there... It should be .0266 inches. A quarter inch+ is a bit much to move a front sight!AndyC wrote:
