Glock Night Sight Question

Two quick questions regarding FACTORY Glock Night Sights...

1) Are they plastic or metal sights?

2) I've heard of problems with Glock front sights coming loose or popping off entirely. Myth? Truth? 1 out of 100,000?

Debate is factory night sights vs. aftermarket night sights.

I have Glock brand sights on my duty weapon and a personal one and trijicons on two others. They function identically IMO and are only $50. I've heard that Glock stands behind them too.

You can always put some red locktite on the front sight. I have one come off and so has my son.

My wife's G19 came with Trijicons installed from the factory. They are nice and bright. They are also not shooting loose yet, although we have certainly not put more than 1,000 rounds through it at this point.

I have three Glocks and no problems whatsoever. Seems like I read at one point Glock's front sight was just a pop-in but on the Gen 3 pistols, there is a screw that holds the front sight on.

The stock plastic front site can come off easily. I haven't heard of any problems with the Glock night sights coming off. They are metal, but one thing to consider is that the front site on the Glock factory night sight is staked on rather than using a screw, which makes it much more difficult to remove and put on another gun without a special tool or a gunsmith.

Funny you asked. My wife's G17 front sight was about to come off during the last range session. Now I need to get that front sight tool with a bit of loctite. :grumble

I put these on my G26 and the G19. Best night sight I've seen. Look the same, night or day. Very bright and tough. Great for Old Eyes too.

Aside: Don't deal with Botach.

Their customer service has an atrocious record with hobbyists and BTDTs alike.

:headscratch OK...

Haven't had to deal with their CS, so my experience with them has been OK. :tiphat:

Best price I've found on the TFO sights. I liked them on the 26 so much, I went back for a set for the 19. The only problem is my Wife is probably going to take the 26 away from me. :???: She scored an 8 on your "Dots" target, with it, first try! :fire

I've been seriously thinking about trying those TFOs. Are they plastic or metal housing around the "glow sticks" ( :biggrinjester: what else do you call those little green chunks of cryptonite?) .... also do the "glow sticks" seem well protected against damage with "normal" use drawing from holster, maybe dropping the gun once?

See Andy's description of the litle Kryptonite tubes....
The rest of the sight is steel and are very durable (I beat 'em on with a hammer and punch).
I've used the rear sight to jack the slide on my belt and on the edge of the range table and they take it fine. :tiphat:

I have the Glock night sights on my G33 and Trijicon on my G19. I personally like the Trijicon better but IMHO the Glock night sights are just as adequate and do the job they are made for.
