NEW ORLEANS — A federal judge in New Orleans has blocked a six-month moratorium
on new deepwater drilling projects that was imposed in response to the massive Gulf oil spill.

In your face Barry !

They've already said they're going to appeal. They'll tie this up in legal knots and get the same thing they want done anyway. :grumble

With one big difference. Since the judge granted injunctive relief, until the case is settled or the Supreme Court rules, oil companies will still be able to operate in the Gulf of Mexico. That is a huge victory, because now the government has to prove its case in court BEFORE they can stop the drilling and basically shut down the entire Gulf Coast economy.

Great to see people fighting back against Obama's plan to kill American Capitalism.

The Obama administration is issuing a new moratorium in the next day or so, though.

The companies which own the rigs have said they are losing $1 million per day, per rig and if the moratorium continues they will have to move the rigs to where they are allowed to drill, which is what I'm sure the Administration was intending all along. This and, if the rigs have to move elsewhere due to the moratorium, this will increase the percentage of oil we buy from foreign sources and will give more ammo to his "green" energy arguments, which he's already trying to tie to the BP spill. Never let a crisis go to waste, right?

This is the most anti-business Administration in my lifetime, and possibly ever. Obama apparently has never heard the phrase "The business of America is business."

2012 can't come soon enough for me.

Didn't know that. I assumed since they were planning on an appeal that it would delay drilling until the appeal was over. Good to know thats not the case! :tiphat:

Won't MMS still have to approve the leases again? If that's the case, I don't see Obama allowing MMS to approve any leases. He is hurting this economy!
