Too many calibers?

I don't have a CZ pistol nor a clone. I also don't have a Taurus pistol.
I can't tell you why, but I think I might want one of the above.

Here is my question(cry for help): IF, I just happen to, maybe, find one at a good price, should I stick with a caliber I already have OR get one in another caliber?

I have that dream, sometimes, that I'm out of ammo and ther are still a few more zombies lurking. I find a box of ammo in the ruins and you guessed it......, it's a caliber I don't have a gun for.

Somebody tell me not to worry and just get a 9mm because it is inexpensive to shoot. No, that won't work. My wife will say "you already have several 9mm guns"

Share with me some wisdom.

I think everyone should have a .22. If you're going to get people started (and you will unless you're a hermit), it's the best caliber to start with because there's little to no recoil.

It's also the cheapest cartridge by far.

I myself get what feels good and if I need ammo I buy ammo. My son had a zombie survival guide that was hilarious.

OE,

I look at this a bit differently. I will only buy a new (usually old Military) gun in a caliber that I
do not have. It gives me the excuse/opportunity to add more reloading dies and to begin new
reloading projects. It is an endless pursuit.
When my wife questions me about when I might have enough, I merely hand her my copy
of "Cartridges of the World" and tell her that I am done when I have one of each.

Of course, then I add, "it's like shoes". Did I mention that I am also learning to cook for myself?

Kind Regards,

Tom

Example.... I want something in a .357sig why ? Glad you asked, because I have a .32, .380, .9mm, .40 and .45 I figure I need a handgun in .357sig.

Speaking of that, does a 1911 exist in .357sig?

Good point. I do not have the .32 but I have .357 and .44 mag. I agree on the .22 idea. Bricks of .22 are cheap, you can store literally thousands of rounds in a small space.

Mebbe I need to add a Kel-tec .32 to the fold. I will ignore the 10mm. I will probably ignore the .357 sig.

Should we apply the same logic to rifles? I have a .243, several .223, 7mm Rem Mag, .270, and just added a .300 WSM. I have never wanted a 30-06, but now that I think about it, an '06 or a .308 (7.62 Nato) would make sense.

Great! More reasons to buy guns! Accessorize!

I've got a .223, .40S&W, a .22 pistol on loan, and a .22 rifle in the shop.

My next purchase will probably be a 9mm, followed by a .380. After that, who knows? Perhaps a .308 rifle...

I have a .45, and a .308 rifle. In the plans are a .223 AR and a .40cal, probably a P229.

Then there is the second Kimber, a 7mm Mag rifle, and.......

....I need a raise.

You too!!!

I've actually become quite a chef...And have thought about a new show called "Guns and Oregano" to debute on the Food Network soon!

I have Guida De Laurentis lined up to be my suise-chef... ;-)

I'm in counseling too...major drag...

Dreams are harbingers (sp?) of our greatest fears, subconcious frailties and unfounded deficiencies...

Examples...

A pilot may fear in a dream that they might not know what to do while at the controls...Because the result is death...

A marksman may fear the firearm they are using may not work properly, or in a dream not be proficient to hit a target...

In your case, finding the means to take care of a few more "zombies" with ammunition that you do not have a gun to use them in is a quandry that you must have to ask yourself...

In real life, (or a hypothetical situation) are you prepared to disengage from a situation that you may, or may not have under control...

I think it stems from a sense that we all have an arsenal and store of ammo that many would envy, and that we feel we are extremely prepared to deal with any situation that comes along...

Till the absolute last round...

That sure may be a disturbing condition to be in, in a dream...

Good part is we all wake up from dreams...

In your case...

I'd do an inventory of my collection...Down to the count you have in each ammunition caliber you have...

And hey, if all else fails...Buy a new toy...And stock up on that caliber...Nothing wrong with that! ;-)

BTW, how is that chef thing working out???

I've gotten purty good over here...

stevie_d_64,
I should have just PMed you from the start and not bothered with a post.

I think Sigshooter was the only guy trying to help me.

Stevie, your psychoanalysis was right on. The real question I had but was afraid to ask was:
Can a man go through life without owning a handgun chambered for .45acp? There, now I feel better, somewhat.

Tom was REALLY scaring me with that "Cartridges of the World" stuff!

The guns don't take up much space. But a gun without ammo equals a rock.

Maybe it's not really as big a problem as I think it is. It just occured to me that .50 cal. ammo cans would hold up the mattress better than box springs and the 'dust ruffle' would hide the cans!

I'm glad you guys are around when I need you! Thanks, OE

One looks like it was dropped on the cobblestones, then trampled by many hobnailed boots. The other two are brand new from the arsenal.
