Mine was hard to insert magazines into at first, but not that hard. My LCP got much easier after a little while.

Yes, I have always pressed the mag release button to fully insert the mag.
You can just use force to fully seat the mag, but I read on the LCP forums
that this could prematurely wear out the mag release mechanism over time.

I am not sure if you have to press the mag release button but it sure helps.

I think I remember reading in the manual that it is recommended that you do that but the online manual doesn't say that . :headscratch

edit: I have just dug my LCP manual out and can't find any mention of having to press the mag release to insert the clip, but as I say, on mine it sure helps a whole lot. :tiphat:

I didn't see anything in my manual, but in a SD situation, an extra button to push just might pose problem. I've never had to push the release to insert a magazine.

In a SD situation just bang it home and buy a new gun afteward. It is easier to get a new mag in if you push the release button but you don't have to. I wouldn't be slapping the mag into place on a regular basis though.

This is new information to me. I have never heard of pushing the magazine release to insert a magazine. I'm gonna' have to do some research to see if this is common practice. I do, however, seriously doubt that when slap your magazine in during a self defense situation you'll need to buy a new gun afterward. I also don't see how reaching down with your right thumb to push the button while you insert the mag with your left hand is easier, but to each his own I guess.

From reading the elsiepea forum it appears that there are two camps on this issue, one slams, the other presses the mag release button. It seems that the 'press the mag release' came about due to the fact thta the mag release mechanism was once made of plastic in the early models but it is metal on the later models so....slam at will. :tiphat:

By the way the LCP forum is at http://elsiepeaforum.com :patriot:

I'm in the slam camp. Which is probably why I pinched the bejeezus out of my finger yesterday.
